Persistence

I have three blueberry bushes in my back yard. This time of year, our family loves going just a few feet out the back door for fresh berries. Unfortunately, the catbird loves flying a few feet from the crepe myrtle for the same thing!

This summer, Jeff built a temporary net enclosure for the bushes. We love birds here, but we love fresh berries a bit more! The nets have worked great keeping the catbird from the berries, but she (or he?) can't accept that the nets are an obstacle. Multiple times in the past few weeks, I've observed the catbird hanging on to the nets, attempting to fork the berries through the net, perched on the structure staring down at the fruit, or hopping about on the ground, pecking at the nets for a hole to squeeze through.

Persistence.

Reminds me of our family business, BuyChimes. Through the past 12 years, we've grown, shrunk, tweaked, created, and changed - all to build and nurture our dream of owning a small family business. Persistence has been the name of the game, no doubt. But unlike the catbird, we've tasted the sweetness, joy and pleasure of success in "getting the berry." We love what we do here at BuyChimes!
